What if I am scared of heights?
Most glider pilots don’t like being up on ladders. Only you really know what you can comfortably accept and if in doubt do not fly. But at any time during the launch or flight the instructor can shorten the flight and safely return to the airfield within a few minutes if not seconds. Most people with some fear of heights find that the whole experience of the flight is enough for them to forget their fear, especially once they are a few hundred feet in the air. Additionally, the tight straps and solidity of the surrounding cockpit walls give an enhanced feeling of security.
